About DBK Home
Founded by Krystle Pickens in 2016, DBK is passionate about working with clients to create spaces that are beautiful and evoke that special feeling of home, while also meeting the individual client’s needs. We apply our four core values: Sustainability, Feeling, Functionality, and Community to every project, big or small. Please connect with us to schedule your free phone consultation and learn more about how we can help you transform your home—kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom—into your dream living space today.
Core values
Sustainability
We work with clients and contractors to reduce our environmental impact. From demolition to selecting building materials, fixtures, and furniture, we evaluate which pieces can be donated, preserved, refinished, or relocated to minimize waste and keep items out of the landfill. We look for "new to us" materials that can be reupholstered or refinished. When purchasing new items for clients, we are committed to only using high quality, made to last, pieces from manufacturers we trust—seeking out timeless pieces our clients can love for years to come.
Feeling
We listen to our clients to uncover the special things that say "welcome home" every time they walk through the door. We understand what makes a house a home is different for everyone. Whether it's clean walls, zero clutter, shelves filled with photos and precious momentos, or bold colorful walls and furnishings, we aim to create spaces that make our clients feel at home.
Functionality
We create beautiful spaces that meet our individual client needs. Everyone has different needs based on their day to day life and we work to create a space that is responsive to and supports each client’s lifestyle. A home is more than your shelter, it should function well for you as you are moving through your daily life and also adapt with you as you grow.
Community
We shop locally, supporting as many businesses in Jersey City and the neighboring communities as I can on every project. We are active in Jersey City, assisting in as many community outreach projects as we can, especially in the West Side, the neighborhood we call home, and have even been recognized for our efforts by Mayor Fulop at the National Night Out Against Crime.
Meet Krystle
Principal Designer Krystle Pickens has a degree in Interior Design and has worked in the design industry since 2012. She worked exclusively on designing dreamy kitchens and bathrooms for several years before launching DBK Home.

Meet Emily
Junior Designer Emily Pecot offers a keen eye for interior design and her diverse background informs an eclectic aesthetic. Emily is passionate about making home an oasis and has designed a variety of spaces from apartments to an 1860’s farmhouse.
Growing up amidst frequent relocation including an idyllic stint in the English countryside, she learned the ability to make a house into a home no matter where you are and working within limitations. Emily enjoys finding unique vintage pieces and believes that spaces should reflect one’s unique personality and values.
