Love Your Space: Interior Design is For Renters Too
A survey of DBK Home’s social media followers revealed that many of you rent and that many of you also link home ownership to professional design work.
I’m here to bust the myth that a beautiful—professionally designed—living space is a privilege reserved exclusively for homeowners. Although you do need to be a homeowner to do a major renovation, you don’t need to own your space to make it yours. DBK Home has developed a special apartment package, with renters’ needs and limitations in mind, to give them the solutions they need to make their space their own.
If you are skeptical of making an investment in a “temporary” space, consider this: the reality is for many people, renting is a lifestyle choice. And, although—at a bare minimum—a renter may be in their space for a year, many renters will stay in the same apartment for three years or more. Let’s be honest, no one likes moving. And very few people have the desire or the energy to move every single year, especially if they like their location..
When you have a home that truly welcomes you, feels like you, and works for you, you enjoy a better quality of life. Loving the place you are in enhances your relaxation, makes you feel more comfortable entertaining, and cleaning up becomes easier because your space is tailored to the way you live.
It’s a worthy investment to curate a space that says “welcome home” every time you walk through the door!
Our apartment package works much like our other design packages. The first step is our complimentary discovery call to discuss your space. Following the call we send you a detailed questionnaire to facilitate and efficient and effective site visit. The questionnaire helps us dive deeper into your likes and dislikes. This makes it easier for us to recommend things you will potentially like and helps us avoid proposing things you won’t (for example, not suggesting blue pillows if you hate blue).
During the site visit, the client has two hours to pick my brain. We will walk through the space and discuss any pain points you’re experiencing and come up with as many possible solutions as we can. We will work through your space with you and offer as many suggestions as we can to improve your apartment. We’ll cover everything from furniture layout, to paint colors (yes you can paint your apartment), to art placement (yes, that’s allowed too!), and everything in between.
As a follow up to the site visit, we put together a custom vision board for your space, including a write up of our suggestions to give you a complete picture and roadmap for getting your apartment to its dream state.
