Renovation Season
Memorial Day is a week away, and historically our little design firm would be BUSY right now getting client projects as close to completed as possible, or possibly starting projects with deadlines throughout the summer and fall (usually earmarked by the holidays).
Memorial Day is the unofficially kickoff for summer and that signals to many of us that we want to host, which then signals to us that we want our space to be “hosting ready.” This year there are a a lot of questions around hosting, and if we will even be doing that at all this summer. (And we certainly aren’t BUSY right now… though we are having fun on the few projects we are working on!)
Historically the summer is prime hosting and renovation season.
If you are struggling with this, like many of us are, then I think it’s fair to think about your space and find a little solace for yourself. Maybe instead of focusing on a project for your guests to enjoy (that surely you would benefit from as well), you focus on a project that is just for you. Maybe you finally find a way to carve out that bonus crafting space, create a library out of your third bedroom, convert your unused dining room into a quiet home office or a noisy and fun playroom for your family.
This is something you can take a weekend and work on yourself or you can call in the experts, depending on your work style and how much effort you are willing and able to put in to carving out this space in your home. If it’s as easy as clearing out the guest room and pulling your desk in there, go for it! Try it out!! If it’s more complicated and you need help pulling together a plan, let us know, we’d be happy to help.
Whatever you decide to focus your energy on at home, make sure you are finding a place for yourself; a place that helps you de-stress or a place that gives you a dedicated spot for something that is taking over the house; a place that makes your day to day life easier and lifts your mood. That should be the goal.
